Polynesian Cultural Center - a must when in Oahu, Hawaii

The Polynesian Cultural Center is a must if you are visiting Oahu! It is an amazing way to get to know more about the culture. Many say it's the best luau and cultural experience on the island.

Here are some tips before you go!

1. Book as far out as you can to avoid any sold out packages.

Our trip was more last minute, so we had to switch plans around to find a day that worked for us. Right now, if you book more than 10 days in advance you get a 10% discount!

2. I recommend the Alii Luau Package.

This gets you into the main luau - which is 100% worth it! I don't think the tour guide is that necessary, but it is helpful when it is your first time there. It also gets you better seats at the "HA: Breath of Life" evening show. The show is incredible!

3. Bring sunscreen

Unless a policy changes, you can bring a bag in with you. It will be searched when you enter. The weather is beautiful year-round and you will be outside all day. Don't forget to pack some sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, etc. There are plenty of shops inside to buy water, food, and souvenirs, so bring some spare cash with you in case a card reader is down.

4. Take advantage of the 3-day pass

Right now, the policy is you can return with your original pass the next 3 days following your initial visit. There is no way to see everything you want to and explore all the islands in depth in just 1 day. Make a plan to come back and explore on your own.

5. Don't be embarrassed to try something new

There are many activities to participate in throughout the different islands. It is a really immersive experience, and they occasionally ask for participants. If you want to lay low, you definitely can, but it is so much more fun to get involved! Take some pictures and have fun at this once in a lifetime opportunity.
